Centeroo is the walled performance area at the heart of Bonnaroo. It contains five main stages: the What Stage, the Which Stage, the This Tent, the That Tent, and the Other Stage. The Which Stage, the second largest, sits perpendicular and often runs sets that overlap with the What Stage, forcing attendees to make difficult scheduling choices. Parking at Bonnaroo is included with every GA ticket that includes camping. When you drive in, your car is parked adjacent to your camping spot, and it stays there for the duration of the festival. Once you are parked and set up, walking is your primary mode of transportation. The walk from the farthest campgrounds to the Centeroo entrance can take 20 to 35 minutes, so comfortable footwear is essential. Many attendees bring wagons or carts to haul gear from their car to their campsite.
Nashville International Airport (BNA) is the nearest major airport, roughly 60 miles north of Manchester. From BNA, driving takes about an hour under normal conditions, though Thursday morning arrivals can experience significant delays as festival traffic converges on the small roads surrounding the farm. Several charter bus companies operate direct service from Nashville to Bonnaroo, and some independent shuttle services pick up from downtown Nashville hotels. If you fly in and do not want to rent a car, the charter bus is the most reliable option. Carpooling through Bonnaroo's official rideshare board is also popular, as it reduces the number of vehicles in the campground and splits fuel and toll costs.
Tennessee in mid-June is hot and humid, with daytime temperatures frequently reaching the 90s and overnight lows staying in the upper 60s to low 70s. A quality tent with a rain fly is essential because afternoon thunderstorms roll through regularly. A canopy or pop-up shade structure for your campsite is practically mandatory; without shade, sitting in your tent during the afternoon heat is miserable. The What Stage field is enormous, and sound quality is solid even from far back. For a headliner, you can enjoy a great experience from the middle of the field while having room to dance and easy access to exits. Getting close to the barricade for a headliner requires arriving two or more acts early and committing to that spot. The Which Stage is smaller and provides a more intimate experience for its size. The tent stages fill up fast for popular acts, so arriving 15 to 20 minutes early for a must-see tent performance is wise. Late-night sets, which run from midnight to 3 a.m. or later, are a hallmark of Bonnaroo and often feature the most talked-about performances of the weekend. Do not burn all your energy during the day if you plan to catch the late-night programming.
Camping is the primary accommodation at Bonnaroo and is included with GA tickets. However, there are hotels in Manchester and surrounding towns like Tullahoma and Murfreesboro. Staying offsite means driving to and from the festival each day, which adds time and removes you from the campground community that defines the Bonnaroo experience.
